On Saturday we spent the day around the Casa but had to nip down to Periana and Puente Don Manuel for a few supplies so decided to stop at The Castle of Zalía located at the side of the road home. It's a ruined fortress which stands opposite the town of Alcaucín and one of the best defensive architectures in Axarquia, dating from Moorish times.

At this time of year the museum is reasonably quiet, although I believe that in the tourist season there can be long queues! A few folk and a school party were all we had to contend with so we were able to enjoy the peace of this lovely building - Palacio de Buenavista - and the wonderful collection that it houses. Picasso's work, paintings, sculpture, prints and ceramics, is organised thematically and spans eight decades. Fascinating to see themes tackled in different styles within the same gallery space!

And wonderful to see how engaged the school children were during their visit!

We spent yesterday in Malaga, taking the bus from Torre Del Mar so no worries about navigating the city and finding parking....very relaxing

The cathedral.....I front of which we sat at a street cafe and enjoyed a coffee in the morning sun!

You may remembered I posted a photo showing a building in the same square as the Cathedral....I liked the colours and the cover used while the building was being restored....Well the covers are now off!

The now glorious Palacio Episcopal!

We had a good day with 5 participants getting to grips with tray dyeing and basic heat-press printing. So lovely to be able to run part of the workshop outside on the terrace!

We have had some great walks in the hills....the wild herbs and aromatic plants are coming in profusion, making walking just lovely with the smells of thyme, lavender, rosemary and others, yet to be identified.

The very small amount of rain since we arrived have seen the hills become much greener and full of plants and wild flowers

Lots of small wild iris also dot the hillsides!

I've been collecting herbs and tying into bunches to hang around the house.....you get their wonderful aroma as you walk past!
