We went for a late afternoon walk from Casa Rosina, down the track and took some images looking

back up towards the village.

Most of the olive trees have been harvested, the soundscape being the sound of electric tree shakers - sounds a bit like a power saw! Some groves and more open fields are then ploughed, mainly for vegetable planting!

A beautiful day and as it was Mum's and Peter's last day, Thomas having left in the morning, we decided to drive past Periana and up the valley to Alfarnatejo and Alfarnate. Its a very twisty and steep road, particularly on the way down but the mountains are spectacular! Hard to capture the scale though!

Off to Malaga early to pick Tom up on Sunday 20th followed by another trip on 21st to pick up Mum and Peter...so lovely to see them.  We had a week of relaxing, some walks, good food, entertaining and being entertained. I was keen that we should walk a part of the way up the hill behind Casa Rosina so Mum could see the wild Iris which are growing in profusion...

Mum made it quite far up and was rewarded with great views over Casa Rosina, El Toril and down to Lake Vinuela towards Velez Malaga

The hillsides are full of Iris, herbs and scrub as well as amazing rock formations...here's a frilly one.

Another craft fair- here I am at the organic food and craft market at Viveros Garden Centre! It was good fun and I met lots of lovely folk including seeing some kent faces from last year! I'll be back at the next market on 9th January.

It was quite hot!

At night we attended the ex-pat Christmas dinner in a bar in Periana enjoying copious quantities of wine and an interesting menu!

I realise I've been neglecting the blog but I've been finding it hard to spend time here. Sadly, on 17th Decemeber, we lost our very dear friend Caroline Hewat from Cromarty and it's rather knocked me sideways! But Caroline had booked to come here to be a part of our Creative Escapes Andalucia in February and she was really looking forward to it so I know she'd have been avidly reading this. Therefore it's time to restart and to post more regularly.

Meanwhile a picture of the cairn, dedicated to Caroline, that we built in the hill above Casa Rosina and looking towards Lake Vinuela.
