I can't quite believe that we have been here for two weeks already! With problems posting to the blog I'm a bit behind so this is Thursday 31st Oct! We drove to Phukalla Enterprise Centre in Lesotho. The centre is the base for the farm and also houses one of the craft groups, Nye Nye Crafts. The track to Phukalla is extremely rough and we were well jiggled about when we arrived! We were met by the Senior General Manager N'tate Mankoe who showed us around the farm. The photo shows the farm office and the mill shed.

So the eagle eyed among you will notice that there are no wonky calves on this blog - thanks to my IT expert for sorting it! And no more calf photos.......for a while!

Sent 2 images in last post and only one seems to be showing up and looking a bit odd so posting same pic to see if that works - note little white heart on her forehead!
Well that worked so now a test with photos! Some of you will have seen my namesake, already on Facebook, so for the rest of you here is the lovely young calf (and her mother) - the newest addition to the farm at Action Lesotho! I'm very chuffed! For all the farmers out there keep an eye out for the next posting - more farm photos to follow....!
I've been having problems posting to the blog in the last few days, as you all may have noticed! But my personal IT specialist has suggested trying through email so this is a test. Hope it works so I can let you know all we've been doing in the last few days!
Some street scenes!
The afternoon
....after a well deserved coffee we visited two artisan groups based in Maseru - 'Positively Enpowered Artisans' who make jewellery from recycled beads and handmade beads using paper quilling and Seshoeshoe fabric and Maseru Weaving who make tapestry wall hangings and related products. The workshop used by Maseru Tapestries is a huge space but is in very poor condition as well as being very hot and dusty! I can't imagine how they manage to work there all day but they are moving to new premises and we are arranging to go and see it. I hope it is a better place. The photos show workers at both workshops.
All the artisans have delivered products for display in a cafe and backpackers hostel, here, in Ficksburg and are working hard preparing stock for the Cherry Festival which takes place in November, also, in Ficksburg
