Mme Manuel, who is the owner of the business (behind me) with 2 workers putting a new lining into a woven bag
Seithati weavers also spin yarn using these bicycle spinning wheels.
For the first time, on Tuesday, Anne and I flew solo....by that I mean we drove to and around Maseru on our own....this can be quite daunting but we managed fine! We went to the building that houses Seithati Weavers, actually a nice building but the roof in the workshop is in very poor repair! Anyone know a builder who wants to volunteer.....?!! The weave in tapestry and on loom and dye their own yarn producing some nice work but have a very low income. We are encouraging them to extend their range of woven bags and line them with Seshoeshoe fabric to sell at Cherry Festival, the new craft shop in Ficksburg and to take to a Christmas fair at the start of December - we hope this will generate some income for the group.
......that means 'It's VERY hot' in Setsotho. And it is very, very hot......can you imagine walking outside when it's really windy, not a freezing Orcadian/Scottish wind but HOT wind? So hot it feels like you are completely surrounded by giant hair dryers.......!! Wiltingly yours.......!
Nyenye Crafts have an order of bags to make for an outlet in UK so time to get started. All the groups are also working on products for Cherry Festival which tajes place here in Ficksburg later in the month!
This makes Orkney farm tracks look like real roads!
Spot the salamander!
Yesterday we went back to visit the ladies at Nyenye Crafts and this is a great house that we passed on the way!
Last one for now....!
I could go on and on....it was so stunning!
