This afternoon we headed over to TY to start the gallery set up. Everybody at Hatooa Mose Mosali has worked tirelessly to get everything to this stage and it meant we were able to get the painted gallery furniture in place and start the set up. Here it is, in position and I hope you are happy to see your work, Guy, painted and in position! It looks great!

We spent yesterday (Thursday) preparing for our meeting, held today with the Cultural Co-ordinators in Maseru. The Irish Ambassador was also in attendance. Pippa started the meeting with a description of the work that Action Lesotho and how Lesotho Mountain Crafts is run. Anne and I then made a presentation with our impressions of our six weeks consultancy, of the country, the culture and the challenges faced. Some interesting discussion followed and we are hopeful that communication links can be forged and continued with this group of co-ordinates!

We spent the afternoon with Mme Masetumo at Maseru Tapestries discussing designs for a government tapestry commission. As long as the tender goes through Mme Masetumo and her team will need to produce 14 tapestries, at least 10 of which are 2200x2200 so it is a massive undertaking! Here we are looking at some design cartoons that we hope can be reconfigured. It was unbelievably hot and with the roof being made up from corrugated metal and plastic it was like having an electric fire beating down onto your head! We were only there for a couple of hours but these ladies work there, very often 7 days a week!

We were supposed to visit Limkokwing University on Wednesday morning but due to a visit by the French Ambassador we were unable to do so. However this meant that we were able to spend time with Lesotho Mountain Crafts Paton Anna Gervin at the Irish Embassy Residence. As you can see we were sitting in the lovely garden and enjoyed coffee and some delicious cream scones!

.....which is why there haven't been any posts since Monday! On Tuesday we were at Ha Maqele where our sales ladies from Cherry Festival gave feedback to the other members of the group and we did individual feed back sessions to each company. During the day we were able to give a copy of 'Choosing Colour' by Kevin McCleod to each business - Quadrille Press very kindly donated 12 copies to the businesses and we hope to make good use of them in our next consultancy.....yes we are coming back! We were also able to give the companies a small art pack so they can continue working on design exercises in their sketchbooks!

Mme Mamalapo, on left, came over from Nyenye Crafts to join in the workshop. Mme Lerato, on the right, is the dye expert at Leribe Crafts. They were really pleased with the results and are planning to try the techniques in different colours. We had a good day!

Today we went to Leribe Crafts to do a dye workshop - dip dying, space dying and tie dye, working directly onto mohair scarves. It was a very hot day but luckily the dye shed was cool! And the results were pretty cool too!
