Colourful umbrellas in the sun....
As I haven't blogged much I have decided to add some photos of our first week travelling around visiting each LMC company...
A lot of rain this season has played havoc with some roads - the route to Phukalla is virtually impassible unless on foot or in 4 wheel drive!
Fields of yellow on the way to Lesotho.....beautiful
......and it's very hot (sorry everybody). Arrived in SA last night and have been into Lesotho visiting 2 companies today. And just to post a pic here is Pippa's garden, we have squash, courgettes and tomatoes for tea.....
more soon....
Well here we go again, off out to sunny South Africa and Lesotho for 4 weeks. We leave tomorrow night (Saturday) and I'll try to blog as much as possible but as we're staying in a different place we might not have wifi 'on tap'
And a pic to show how lovely it was when I walked down the path on Wed morning. And it seemed vry strange to fly over calm turquoise seas and sunny Orkney islands after the weather we have had!
....at Johannesburg Airport! And we made it back to Glasgow yesterday, after not a lot of sleep! I'll be home to Orkney tomorrow but keep an eye on my blog as I will post some more photos from time to time as I go through them all and digest our wonderful adventure!
As we were leaving the gallery, a celebratory dance.....all beautifully dressed in traditional Seshoeshoe outfits!
Leaving Ficksburg!
A few more images from our last day! Here we are being 'crowned' by Mme Masetumo and Mme Matanki. We have carried our Traditional Lesotho home and they have been much admired by flight attendants, fellow passengers, Immigration staff and Border Control as well as raising a few smiles (and no doubt the odd comment) as we came through arrivals at Glasgow Airport! There's nothing like a good hat to start a conversation!
And so that is our last day done and tomorrow we drive back to Johannesburg to catch our evening flight back to Glasgow, via Dubai. We leave, with mixed emotions - really looking forward to getting home and seeing everyone, being cold again and warming up with hot mince pies and mulled wine but very sad to be leaving an amazing and beautiful country where we have worked very hard but met some lovely people who have warmly welcomed us! However we will be back...and wait until you see the hat....!
